About the company...

SwimEEZY began when the founder, Sheelagh Constan-Tatos, invented the original SwimEEZY swimming aid, a one piece costume for girls with built-in flotation foam. The invention was inspired when Sheelagh saw, at a beach in Cape Town, South Africa, a lady who had tied her child's inflatable armbands to her costume to prevent them slipping down. Sheelagh thought there must be a better way.

And so began a long period of investigation into finding the right flotation foam, the right design, and numerous prototypes which were all tested on Sheelagh's first daughter Leah (who although now 15 yrs old, is still the SwimEEZY girl!). The importance of swimming aid design, and a review of the current trends, led Sheelagh to establish that the safest position to locate buoyancy is over the shoulders, and NOT around the torso, making the child more stable in the water, with no risk of overturning. This important feature was one of the reasons SwimEEZY eventually became the ONLY swimming aid to get the much sought after approval of the Child Accident Prevention Foundation of South Africa (CAPFSA) More on CAPFSA at www.childsafe.org.za.

Since then SwimEEZY has achieved approvals/endorsements from prestigious organisations like Swim Australia, Austswim, Royal Children's Hospital, IPTC.

With the growing concern for sun safety, a sun protection variant of the SwimEEZY was developed, and a range of sunsuits and sun protection hats for kids. The sun safety range was again only made using the best in fabrics, fabrics that block the most harmful UV possible, while still retaining the comfort and fashionable look our customers demand. The sun protection range meets the Cancer Association of South Africa, and NATA (Australia) stringent standards and are all UPF 50+ rated. Read more about sun protection factors...

SwimEEZY products are now sold in the USA and Australia and the company is actively seeking distribution partners in the EU, Middle East, Far East and South America. The company is also looking for investors to fund its expansion plans in South Africa and internationally.

The SLICK brand was developed initially from another unique company innovation in padding for cycle shorts. The common raw materials, Lycra and foam, used in SwimEEZY swimming aids, and Sheelagh's husband's interest in cycling led to this development. The range has now grown into related technical sportswear, based on a simple credo - "give the athlete the best in technical fabrics, construction and design". The range currently covers cyclewear, swimwear, triathlon and printed club/team apparel, and this brand represents the company's major thrust for the future.

BOPPA was yet another company innovation. When the SwimEEZY swimming aid was developed, it was found to be effective for children older than 2 years. While many competitors scaled down their products for the under 2 category, SwimEEZY remained steadfast.....babies have different requirements, and require not a swimming aid but a flotation aid. Their neck muscles and relatively large head/body weight ratio makes it difficult, if not impossible, for babies to keep their head clear of the water. The best option is a product that will give them that little extra buoyancy, without being too bulky and comfortable, and float them on their backs in order that they can learn to relax in the water and not fear it. The BOPPA design is simple yet extremely effective, and is now patented in most major markets, and the design has been extended to PFD's (personal flotation devices) for all ages.

SE MEDICAL RESCUE is a range of head immobilisers and neck braces for the emergency rescue/ambulance services market. You may well ask why is this product in the company of swimming and sportswear products. Well it has to do with the materials and production processes developed by the company. The BOPPA range uses the same flotation foam that SwimEEZY uses, but needed to be plastic coated. Sheelagh's husband Peter developed this coating and SE MED RESCUE represents another application of this technology.

As the South African distributor of AIIREX foams, a kew raw material in the production of the above products, SwimEEZY naturally became the distributor for AIREX's gym and yoga mats, balance training and rehabilitation products.
